Please use our website to register for helmets if you will need one!Registration opens Thursday, November 13th, 2025Registration ends Friday, December 12th, 2025The Stoughton Recreation Department, in partnership with Blue Hills Ski Area of Canton, is offering a five-week instructional ski and snowboarding course for children ages 7 to 18. All lessons are 60 minutes long and will be held from 5:00pm – 6:00pm starting Thursday, January 8th 2025. (January 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, & February 5th)Lessons are located at Blue Hills Ski Area, 4001 Washington St, Canton. Transportation AND supervision during the program is the responsibility of the parents/guardians unless children are separately signed up for transportation with the Rec Department. A group invitation and more information will be sent to registered participants by email after registration with the Rec Department. Parents/guardians will complete waivers, ski ability assessments, and rental equipment information on this platform. Please note that completing these online forms with Blue Hills is by the communicated deadline is required for participation. You will be asked during registration if you are doing snowboarding or skiing!The program will begin on Thursday, January 8th pending snow conditions.  Lessons will be held once weekly for 5 consecutive weeks weather permitting.The program registration due date is December 12th.  You must be registered by this date to join the program. Please note there are no refunds after this date.OPEN HOUSE DETAILS:Join us for our Seasonal Program Open House & Rental Fittings with the Snowsports Team! Great for meeting the team, getting fitted, and easing first-day nerves. Participants can get pre-leveled and ask questions. Transportation For an additional cost, your child may be transported from the Stoughton Recreation Department at 15 Pleasant St to Blue Hills Ski Area via a chaperoned bus. The cost for transportation for residents is $40 for all 5 weeks and riding the bus requires a separate registration. The Stoughton Recreation bus will be leaving from the Rec Building at 3:45PM and return at 6:30-6:45 pm depending on traffic. Please note that spots on the bus may fill quickly. If the bus is full, please join the wait list in case of cancellations. HELMETS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS. Due to new policies from Blue Hills, helmets are now an additional fee, you can select helmets when checking out through our website. For those not renting, you are responsible for providing your child with a helmet or renting one separately through Blue Hills. Lessons: Participants are tested by instructors and assigned to groups based on their skill levels. All participants must complete a pre-level assessment. This may be completed in-person during the pre-season rental fitting or remotely via the online forms prior to the start of the lesson. Participants will be pre-leveled into 1 of 4 groups, White, Green & White, Green, and Blue based on skill level. Corresponding colored flags will be used to mark the locations where participants will meet their instructors and group each week. On the first program day, instructors will assess students in each larger color group to build smaller groups of similar age and stage of skill development. If you believe your child has been placed in the wrong group, please have your child communicate with their teacher in addition to contacting Blue Hills Snowsports. WHAT IS NEEDED FROM YOU: - Register online for lessons or rental and lessons through the Rec Department. This is also where registration for the bus and helmets are.-After you are registered, you will be sent a link to the Blue Hills online system where you are required to complete necessary paperwork for your child's participation. This is required. This is also where you will complete rental information. When checking out on the Blue Hills portal, please note that "lift tickets" are required and are included as part of your registration with us.  -If you are renting equipment, you must get fitted at Blue Hills prior to the first day of the program during their business hours or attend one of the Open House dates. Our Adult Basketball league gives the community an opportunity play with friends and colleagues in a controlled, indoor atmosphere. Join us for an exciting opportunity to try out a pottery wheel! In this workshop, Melissa of Beeble Art Center will teach you all about pottery and using a pottery wheel. Items will be ready approximately 3 weeks after the workshop and can be painted with acrylic paint at home. (January 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, & February 5th)Lessons are located at Blue Hills Ski Area, 4001 Washington St, Canton. Transportation AND supervision during the program is the responsibility of the parents/guardians unless children are separately signed up for transportation with the Rec Department. A group invitation and more information will be sent to registered participants by email after registration with the Rec Department. Our programs are open to all participants. Please note that activities may include sensory-rich environments and experiences which can sometimes involve loud noise and messy, hands-on materials. Let your toddler dive into a world of color, creativity, and imagination! This art workshop introduces fun, seasonal themes through painting, gluing, building, and sensory play. Designed for ages 2–5, it’s the perfect place for little artists to explore and make something magical each workshop! This is not a drop-off program.Please note: Pre-registration required. Refunds or credits will not be issued within 24 business hours of the program start time, and programs will not be pro-rated for missed classes. Participants may be eligible for a refund or account credit on a case by case basis prior to the first day of a program. Description: Join us for a workshop to prepare creative works of culinary art! Come learn about food and create one of a kind items for all to enjoy. We will never use any peanut products, but eggs, dairy and gluten may be used. Our Adult Basketball league gives the community an opportunity play with friends and colleagues in a controlled, indoor atmosphere. Each week teams will switch off wearing dark and light colored shirts. The program is a “pick up” league structure with no referees. Description: Join Season 4 & Season 12 Masterchef contestant Malcolm Green for a cooking experience unlike any other! Each class we will provide you with the tools and ingredients to follow along with Malcolm and create your own culinary masterpiece. From prep, to cooking, to plating, Malcolm will teach you all the tricks of the trade. Don't wait to sign up, limited spots available!
